The charm of the villages on Lake Garda
Small jewels to discover starting from our Wine Resort
There is one thing we like to say here at the Conti Thun Wine Resort: the beauty never ends, it only changes. After a walk through the rows of vines, a wine tasting in the cellar or a pampering in our wellness area, there are experiences just waiting to be enjoyed in the surrounding area.
Among our favourites are them: the villages. Those quiet ones in the morning, those full of fragrance at midday, those tinged with gold at sunset. Ready to discover them?
Our starting point: among vineyards and postcard views
Staying in a Wine Resort on Lake Garda means having the privilege of waking up with the light caressing the hills and knowing that just a few minutes drive away are some of the most beautiful villages to visit in the area. It is an invitation to slow down, to be surprised and to fill your eyes with wonder.
We have prepared a little map of the heart, made up of cobbled streets, breathtaking views and authentic nooks and crannies. Here are our favourites.
The villages that make our hearts beat
Salò: elegance and lakeside
(10 minutes by car)
Salò is a caress. Its elegant architecture, independent boutiques and that endless lakefront where you can stroll hand in hand or sip an espresso while watching the sails go by.
Here, time seems to move more slowly. Not to be missed: a visit to MuSa, the town museum, or a boat trip from the small harbour.
Limone sul Garda: between lemon groves and hanging paths
(45 minutes by car)
The name itself says it all: Lemon is the kingdom of citrus fruits. But it is much more than that. Perched on the Brescia side of the lake, this village smells of history and wind. Climb up to the Limonaia del Castel, lose yourself in the alleyways and then... walk. The cycle path suspended over the lake is pure magic, especially at sunset.
Tremosine: between sky and lake
(50 minutes by car)
A village that seems to be hand-painted. Tremosine is reached via the famous Strada della Forra, one of the most scenic roads in Italy. Once there, a breathtaking panorama awaits you. Here you can hike, taste the local cheese and perhaps stop on the Terrazza del Brivido, suspended in the void (not for the faint-hearted!).
Villages and romance: losing oneself to find oneself again
Sirmione: poetry on water
(30 minutes by car)
Sirmione is an embrace that embraces the lake. The thermal waters, the Scaliger Castle, the Grotte di Catullo. A poem on a walk, among flowers, ice cream and views that seem to stand still in time.
If you want an unusual experience, take a boat and circumnavigate the peninsula: the view from the lake is something you won't forget.
Valeggio sul Mincio: mills, tortellini and romance
(50 minutes by car)
A little further on, where Lake Garda gives way to the rivers, is Valeggio sul Mincio. Here time has the smell of handmade pasta and the sound of water flowing under bridges. The village of Borghetto, with its ancient mills, seems straight out of a fairy tale.
Perfect for a romantic outing, perhaps with a gourmet stop at one of the trattorias that prepare Valeggio's famous tortellini.
Return to the Wine Resort with a full heart
After breathing in the beauty of these places, there is nothing better than returning to the Wine Resort. A bubble in the cellar, the relaxation of our estate and its greenery, the peace of the vineyards at sunset.
And if you don't want to think about anything, ask us: we can organise personalised tours for you, recommend hidden little restaurants or accompany you to discover our wine cellar, so that you can experience the most authentic side of Lake Garda.
Lake Garda is not just a lake
It is a journey among flavours, stories and views that speak to the heart. And we are here, ready to welcome you.
